Ann Oddy’s 60th Birthday Card illustration.

Weston Super Mud! Ann the Smile in Smiling Somerset!

Hot off the Korsenn Design Cartoon digital drawing board this week and after several fine liner sketch’s, plus plenty of CS suite photoshop work is an illustration celebrating my Older Sister Ann Oddy 60th Birthday.

Since she resides in the leafy and large sandy-mud expansed beach resort of Weston Super Mare (also one of my old Art College haunts – Weston Art College 1983-1985). So plenty of Somerset sea side references for this one. Also rather heavily influenced or more likely plagiarised somewhat the classic styles of 1950-60’s British Railways Advertising Posters, lovely original traditionally rendered advertising artworks. Good to feature Her Husband, Steve Oddy as a somewhat over zealous beach warden character, or more like ‘Captain Mainwaring’. Plus the original Weston Grand Pier sadly long since burnt down but now renewed. A fun mid Summer job! 

Dolly El’marhdi & Ian Fraser 60th & 70th Birthday Card illustration.

Hot off the press recently, or more like several fine liner sketch’s, plus plenty of photoshop is a Korsenn Design Cartoon commission for some very old friends, Dolly and Ian. Who celebrated their respective 60th and 70th Birthdays over this summer. Rather well known for their far and wide travels and also owners of a venerable Talbot camper van, (1980’s vintage, but it doesn’t like hills and gradients). So for this illustration I used an easy play on the idea of a breakdown somewhere remote on the moors featuring both of them in it of course! The actual location is a spectacular and beautiful one, Rough Tor Road in fact, a very steep and demanding hill road, almost roller coaster in its gradients out of Camelford, leading up to Rough Tor on Bodmin Moor. One of Cornwall’s highest points and an amazing and moody spot, go visit, well worth the walk, run, ride or drive up for the resulting panorama!

The actual location, a small but beautiful back road up onto Bodmin Moor, inspiration for the cartoon-illy. A moody spot!

Gary Hobbs – 50th Birthday illustration. Keep on running Gary!

Hot off the press, or more like several fine liner sketch’s, plus plenty of photoshop is a Korsenn Design Cartoon commission for client; Sue Hobbs over in Cardiff, Wales. For Her ‘Ironman’ Husband Gary Hobbs on his 50th Birthday, (which was the days posting of Tuesday April 24th 2017, so a Happy 50th Birthday Mr Gary Hobbs)!

Gary’s a bit of legend within his Family and Friends, being the real deal Ironman, having completed that gruelling event several times over in Tenby, West Wales. Great stuff too considering thats probably at least 12-13 solid hours of awesome athletic achievement, although hopefully not the ’50:0′ Ive rendered in the cartoon! But being a mad for it cyclist, on and off road, plus a half and full marathon runner myself, I get these kind of events which must have unique atmospheres all of there own, most race events do in one way or another. So it wasn’t hard to emphasise and come up with something appropriate around the ‘Ironman tri-finish line’ idea at the event. So hopefully it will help celebrate and mark the big day.

Need an individually designed, cartoon illustration as a personalised card, as a full colour print or maybe for social-media usage?

It seems people like cartoon and caricature drawings, although saying that it can be a love, hate relationship with this kind of thing too! But they can be a handy and a very personalised illustration for any client bash or presentation, for that special person in your life, or maybe a member of staff within your company or organisation leaving after many a year at the coalface.

All illustrations start off as simple black and white, fine-liner sketches before progressing the idea and theme digitally into CS Photoshop or Illustrator. Final output as a A5-A4-A3 full colour print, as well as the usual output as hi/lo-res JPEG, TIFF, EPS or PDF files. So if you’re in need of a ‘toon’ I will be happy to quote on any job.

*(To illustrate one of these I need good quality photography/images of the recipient, which needs to be hi-resolution, so very clear and close up’s of the persons face and body, etc. I cant illustrate a persons likeness from lo-res or blurred imagery. Prices & timings dependent on what you have in mind, but at least 3-5 days is needed to turn one of these around).
