Rooted Records Logotype
Logotype illustration.
Brand Logotype for probably the last bastion of vinyl records up in Bristol’s, Gloucester Road. It’s sadly now gone, but not forgotten apparently according to the web. The way things go with music trends and with the whole vinyl retro collecting thing, they’re probably back open and trading by now, I do hope so! Design for the logo was based in part on the owner, (Pete’s vintage record player, photograph provided). Seeing this made me feel an retro graphic illy look was needed which is my kind of style anyhow, as this is the way I tend to sketch/draw anyhow. Font wise using Republica for the typography, I do like a bold san-serif, plus the obvious record lines. Very happily all drawn up in CS illustrator and adding the moniker; ‘Rooted-O-Gram’ for a bit of fun to the record player! It was used on the shop’s window vinyl graphics and a cool limited run of hoodies, t-shirts and on the web, etc. Im still wearing the hoodie and the T’s,…oh dear, too middle aged and refusing to grow up.
Above: Rooted T-shirts and Hoody, further retro-ville as these were printed silk-screen,…arrrhhh I can smell those old screen inks!
Above: Polaroid of Rooted Records Shop up in Bristol’s trendy Gloucester Road area,…gert lush my baber!
