Virgin Atlantic Airlines – Point of Sale designs and illustrations.

 

Virgin ‘Mega Store’ In-store POS.

New POS designs for existing and new airline routes, whilst working for The Marketing Communications Business, in Notting Hill, London. Designed throughout from scamps, finished visual’s and onto final illustrations executed/painted in good old fashioned ‘gouache’. All then applied to the usual POS sales materials, leaflet dispensers, window vinyls & wobbler’s and a collector’s edition ceramic piggy bank! Being Virgin Atlantic and a great forward thinking airline client, it was decided to use a more graphic feel for the POS, featuring the iconic Virgin brand and the intended destinations look and feel in the colour’s for the styling. As opposed to competitors more established, corporate brands back then in the early 1990’s. Virgin were a great Client to work with, always interesting design projects.

Above: Deigns worked across the full range of POS material and vinyl window graphics.  Below: Close up of Moscow vinyl graphic illustration, vinyl’s were 3’x3’ across to fit into windows, etc. Weird to think, that when I did this the Communist block CCCP still existed!?

 

Below: Virgin Atlantic Travel Shop, marker concepts for utilising and designing an interior area of the Virgin Mega Store in Oxford Sreet, London. This unused area needed to draw attention to the Shop, which was located downstairs in the basement of the store, which had the problem that most punters just didn’t know it was down there. Being the pre internet age, this was a handy service as Virgin Atlantic Airline bookings for flights and holidays could be made here easily, etc. The scaled model of the Virgin 747-Jumbo Jet and all other POS were budgeted to include real engine noise and flashing runway lights of Gatwick Airport, etc. Design work for The Marketing and Communications Business, in Notting Hill, London.
