Kraft Foods – Angel Delight Tom & Jerry Funpack dispenser
Lovely, fun job whilst working with Studio 6 Communications, design agency in Clifton, Bristol. A Client of theirs at the time Kraft Foods, were re-promoting the Angel Delight Brand and specifically targeting the concept of kid’s fun-packs for the summer holidays to drive further sale’s with some kind of POS unit requirement for the Supermarkets. The idea being that the brand would be tied in with the famous Tom and Jerry brand, (Warner Films Licensing Copyright), and an absolutely classic cartoon characters of course and a favourite of mine and the family, hands down! After the initial briefing and many an Angel Delight tasting session in the studio, plus endless watching of Tom & Jerry DVD’s, all in the name of research of course, it just had to be Jerry outwits Tom ‘slapstick’ fun for the design concept of the unit. Several marker concepts sketches later, produced nuemrous possible design routes. Although this concept ‘trip down the stairs’ had more action to it and was agreed on. So further development and onto the mac and into CS illustrator for the finished artwork. Also featured a sensor in the unit that played back Tom and Jerry sounds when passed. The original Tom & Jerry licensed graphics were sent over from the US of A and incorporated into the rest of the ‘stairs’ design already designed and illustrated by myself. Hopefully we paid homage to historic and quality cartoon characters and the Angel Delight brand?

Above: My original finished marker vizzys for the final design concepts, and the concept ‘trip down the stairs’ was the final chosen version. I came up with several of these but the ‘stairs’ concept worked the best as a workable POS unit and had the maximum impact and fun to of course!

Above: Definitely a job for markers initially for the concepts. You can get so much across with them, but due to it being a concept and a somewhat loose visual it doesn’t push the Client into the proverbial mouse hole,…ha, ha!?
