Marker visualising – Virgin Atlantic Mega-Store – POS concepts.
Virgin Atlantic Airline, marker concepts for utilising and designing an interior area of the Virgin Mega Store in Oxford Sreet, London. This unused area needed to draw attention to the Virgin Atlantic Airline Shop, which was located downstairs in the basement of the store, which had the problem that most punters just didn’t know it was down there. Being the pre internet age, this was a handy service as Virgin Atlantic Airline bookings for flights and holidays could be made here easily, etc. The scaled model of the Virgin 747-Jumbo Jet and all other POS were budgeted to include real engine noise and flashing runway lights of Gatwick Airport, etc. Markers and design when working for The Marketing and Communications Business, in Notting Hill, London.
If you need concept’s visualising, then marker scamps and visuals are one way to go.
I still think it’s important as a designer to be able to draw or visualise both traditionally as well as digitally in whatever the latest software is. You can communicate your ideas quickly and concisely with a sketch before getting too involved digitally. But it does get to excite and include the client in the process of origination and the the creative process of your ideas. Scamps in rough form are more helpful as opposed to a weak finished digital visual of your concepts. Ideas matter, get it right at this stage and the client always feels a lot more involved.
